Many people start a gluten-free diet because doctors tell them they have a gluten allergy and need to change how they eat. Once they start this new diet, they realize they feel better but figure it is because of the allergy. Many people do not know the many benefits of eating a gluten-free diet, even if you do not have an allergy.

Gluten is a protein naturally in particular food like wheat and barley. It can also be added during processing to add texture like pizza, pasta, and other baked goods. You can even find gluten in some medications and beauty products. Most people are unaware that they are constantly surrounded by gluten until they take it away.

When you decide to do a gluten-free diet, you exclude any food containing gluten, and you will be eating whole food and sticking to more of a clean eating diet. People who benefit the most from a gluten-free diet have celiac disease, wheat allergies, and gluten allergies. However, there are many benefits to eating a gluten-free diet even if you do not have an allergy. Below you will find a list of benefits to going gluten-free.

Helps Relieve Digestive Issues

            Gluten causes a lot of bloating and constipation, leading to tiredness and other symptoms. Studies have shown that eating a gluten-free diet helps ease these symptoms.

            Many people struggle with nutrient deficiencies, especially if there is damage to the stomach area. A damaged gut will cause you to feel tired and sluggish. As your digestive system gets better and your stomach is not in constant pain, it will absorb vitamins better, and your energy rate will improve.

Helps with Weight Loss

            It is no surprise that people notice weight loss when they start a gluten-free diet because they illuminate junk food and replace it with whole good foods like lean protein and veggies.

If you are considering starting a gluten-free diet, make sure to do your research and see your doctor so they can do some bloodwork and see if you need a gluten-free diet. Lab work will also rule out any vitamin deficiency and other problems you might have.
